European cancer mortality predictions for the year 2021 with focus on pancreatic and female lung cancer

•We estimated 7% falls in men and 5% women between 2015 2021 EU total cancer mortality rates.•Almost 5 million avoided deaths are predicted over 1989-2021 the EU27.•Pancreatic should be a major focus of public health efforts, since no declines rates were observed overall.•Lung still shows unfavourable trends.•Tobacco control remains priority for across Europe. BackgroundWe statistics European Union (EU) its five most populous countries plus UK. We also focused on pancreatic female lung cancer.Materials methodsWe obtained death certifications population data from World Health Organization Eurostat databases 1970-2015. numbers age-standardised (world population) cancers 10 sites, using joinpoint regression model. calculated number period 1989-2021.ResultsWe 1 267 000 EU, corresponding to 130.4/100 (?6.6% 2015) 81.0/100 (?4.5%). further male rates, but trending upward by +6.5%, reaching 14.5/100 2021.
